When the Eye is Single, the Body is Full of Light

Our spiritual sight (clairvoyance)
reflects light in the darkness and helps us find our way,
our unique spiritual path in God.

This can’t help but remind me (and perhaps you?) of what Jesus said:
when your eye is single, your whole body also is full of light.

Matthew 6:19-25 (Young's Literal Translation)

 19`Treasure not up to yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust disfigure, and where thieves break through and steal,
 20but treasure up to yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth disfigure, and where thieves do not break through nor steal,
 21for where your treasure is, there will be also your heart.
 22`The lamp of the body is the eye, if, therefore, thine eye may be perfect, all thy body shall be enlightened,
 23but if thine eye may be evil, all thy body shall be dark; if, therefore, the light that [is] in thee is darkness -- the darkness, how great!
 24`None is able to serve two lords, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to the one, and despise the other; ye are not able to serve God and Mammon.
 25`Because of this I say to you, be not anxious for your life, what ye may eat, and what ye may drink, nor for your body, what ye may put on. Is not the life more than the nourishment, and the body than the clothing?

Originally, the word Mammon came from the ancient Chaldeans (remember Ur of the Chaldees where Abraham came from) and actually has its roots in the word 'confidence.' (Interesting.  It reminds me of “do not have confidence in the flesh”)

At its most basic level, the word meant 'riches' or 'wealth,' but it connoted an idea of personified wealth gained with avarice. It often took on a deified nature.

Luke 11:33-36 (Young's Literal Translation)

 33`And no one having lighted a lamp, doth put [it] in a secret place, nor under the measure, but on the lamp-stand, that those coming in may behold the light.
 34`The lamp of the body is the eye, when then thine eye may be simple, thy whole body also is lightened; and when it may be evil, thy body also is darkened;
 35take heed, then, lest the light that [is] in thee be darkness;
 36if then thy whole body is lightened, not having any part darkened, the whole shall be lightened, as when the lamp by the brightness may give thee light.'

I used Young’s literal translation for the 2 scriptures above, and it shed some interesting light on this, for me:

In the 1st scripture, what we know as usually translated single, is translated as perfect.
I read that as whole, coming to its completeness.
It is Only in God, as spirit that we find our completeness, wholeness, perfection.

In the 2nd scripture, what we often see translated as single, is translated as simple.
“It is a gift to be simple” ahhh…

In simple I read uncomplicated and uncluttered.
Very interestingly, simple is juxtaposed with evil in this translation – that helps me see simple being the One, as well as the Way, and of course the Light, ok Truth too, why not? ; )

Basically God, not “the world the flesh and the devil” (which are all very Complicated).
As Spirit: Truth is simple / single, Light is simple / single, the Way is simple / single, Gd is simple / single.

We, on the other hand, every minute have a choice:
Do we choose simple/single/perfect/whole/complete and full of Light (enlightened)
or do we choose evil (not God) and Darkness.
